Church Farm

Location: Hilperton, Wiltshire

Status: Pre-App Submission

Keep prepared a sensitive and contextual group of houses that responded to the farmyard site and retained main farm house. The local authority supported the distinctive and considered approach adopted by Keep that retained a number of the existing farm buildings.

A range of contextual materials and associated architectural detailing was proposed for the site that added an elevated level of interest and character to the village.

1. Existing Site

The existing agricultural buildings on site create four courtyards.
2. Demolition and Retention

Three of the existing buildings are to be retained: a. Church Farmhouse b. Timber Barn c. Stone Barn
3. Access

The main vehicular access to the site is to be approximately in line with existing access due to site levels.
4. Frontage

Frontages are proposed to Church Road that will provide continuity to the existing built form.
5. Courtyards

The rest of the site is proposed to be split into four courtyards as the existing site.
6. Proposed Built Form

Buildings will be arranged around the courtyards to provide active frontages.
